What Constitutes a Quality Link

Do you know what a quality link consists of?


What are the important things to look at?

Whenever I am building links I always go straight for the links with the most influence on the rankings. Time management is crucial and proper planning is necessary to ensure you see results where results are fruitful.

Let's take a look at some of the important external factors (on a quality back link) now:

External search engine factors (off-page SEO):



  • Quality, quantity and relevance of inbound links

  • Link acquisition rate (how quickly links are obtained)

  • Link churn rate (how quickly the appear/disappear)

  • Link anchor text and surrounding text

  • Reciprocal links

  • Number of total links on a page

  • Relationship of links on the page

  • IP addresses of outbound links on the page

  • Link location

  • Red flags (churn, acquisition, types of back links, location, IP’s, anchor text can all be red flags)


  • TLD (.edu, .net, .cc, etc) of domain for the link (this used to be a big factor. Recently, Matt Cutts has proclaimed this to be less of a factor) >> read more on Quality Links
